Power

On Phi Phi we kept getting shocked by the computer and the iPod (when they were plugged in to the wall.) I think this might have been bad wiring at the resort, since it hasn’t happened elsewhere. It’s also 230v with no ground, which might be part of the problem…

I bought a little power adapter at the San Francisco airport, so I can connect US power adapters in to the Asian power sockets. But so far all the power sockets have accepted the US style plugs.

I’ve also noticed that the internet cafes have UPSs set up on every computer, which makes a lot of sense since the power will cut out for a second or two every few hours. This was pretty frustrating on Phi Phi since our air conditioner didn’t turn back on automatically after a power blip, so we’d wake up every so often in muggy sweatiness and have to turn it back on.
